Inspiration: I titled this piece “Crossing the Bridge” because I wanted to create something that represented the fear, I felt within myself when I made the cross over from full time employee to full time artist. It was one of the scariest decisions I have ever made in my life. As an artist, I truly had no choice. Looking back at it all it almost felt like I was crossing a shaky bridge 100 feet up in the air with the constant fear of the bridge breaking and crumbling out from underneath me. Of course, the bridge held, and I was slowly able to work through my fear and anxiety. Some days are harder than others but that is just how it goes I suppose. This painting is personally one of my favorites I have ever made. There is just something about it that brings a smile to my face whenever I look at it. It is a very satisfying painting for me.
